Adding a snorkel to a Bighorn

I knew this was not going to be a quick or easy job even with a kit and have put it off for a couple of years. It was obviously not made to attach a snorkel to with the only viable spot into the air intake being inside the front left guard in front of the wheel. To remove the guard a couple of other bits needed to be removed first, carefully finding my way around hidden screws, bolts and clips. To remove the old air intake required removal of the second battery cradle, radiator overflow and air cleaner housing.

And of course the supplied template would have left the front passenger door no longer able to open and none of the required holes anywhere near where they needed to be.

Hopefully I'll get it all back together tomorrow with a new snorkel and radio aerial.

Mrs Gadget says NO! I had to sensor the actual reply for the sake of your delicate ears.

It will be back together later tomorrow, it's the careful taking apart that takes all the time.

That is what I kept asking myself. Less work and expence than another engine replacement.

Particularly when this kit comes with no instructions whatsoever.

Yup. Got to say it was a pig of a job and would go back to a better quality kit next time. The Bighorn is a lot more involved than the Safari that's for sure.

Also painted the wiper arms so there isn't the reflection from the sun on the stainless.

Will have to sort out a pile of vacuum hoses that had already come apart just by the air cleaner. The ends of the hoses had perished and I could only find about half the number of attachment points as hose ends.
