We just got a v8 land cruiser dbl cab at our work 76 k ! out of my price bracket but in saying that I'd never need another
92 ford courier dbl cab 2.6l petrol. Fitted with kumho kl71 tyres of course
Suzuki LJ 81...you may laugh but mine went many places where others failed. After cyclone Bola a mate and I went deep into the forest using a chainsaw to cut through the wind blown trees, only cutting wide enough for us, knowing that anyone wanting to follow would need a chainsaw...DoC ranger walked in to see who had done it, at least 15 km.
Next best would have to be a Landy...been around long before anything else.
Munsey one of these built for off roading 4 sale on side of up here 7k
How TF did that happen, gremlins! Have you seen the toy for sale at Pitstop on Hewletts? Same as this but smaller tray, used for off roading $7k
Take a pic if you can Gibo or Maca

When the dmax hunt thing was on they were advertising it as winning most off road capable(some magazine test) of the current crop of shopping waggons. Whoops i mean utes.
Go drive your people mover!!:D
What do the army use , they where using the Nissan dx utes .anyone no How did they get on with them ?
early Toyota FJ flatdeck cruisers!
If you are after something for heavier off road use then I'd go old school. They are built more for the purpose and you won't need to be so worried about it. Get something shiny for the road. If it is something they can offer you low profiles for it at the dealership then leave it at the dealership.
With tractor tyres on all four corners
I think its pretty hard to beat the Landcruiser 70 series. We've had a few Landcruisers on the farms over the years, and all have done well in excess of 300,000 with no major problems. We run tractor tyres on them year round and they get flogged. Anything that can survive a few years on a ex native cleared stump filled coastal property that gets the better part 2000mls of rain per year has my vote.
No longer have red girl, she was replaced by a 100 series and ended up as a spray rig in Canterbury, but still have the FJ40. Dad bought it about 20 years ago for about 7k at a clearing sale. Hoped it would last 4 or 5 years, but it hasn't died yet! Has a 3b in it and runs great. Has been rolled twice, and it recently got treated to a new cab and all of the rust cut out. A few snapped springs, flogged brakes, broken driveshaft's and a smashed front diff are the only serious things that have gone wrong with it (tractor grips (and teenage boys) are hard on gear) Still starts on the coldest morning after an 8 second glow.

1983 Toyota Land Cruiser asking $7k, would take $6k but I think he'd negotiate?
He is away in LaLa land if he thinks he will get $7k for that..... I think 2k is pushing it!
Iv got a 2 dr, 1.6 manual, Suzuki vitara 2001 with yokohama geolanders on as a farm/hunting/runabout and I can thoroughly recommend them, they can leave your big heavy hiluxs etc for dead as far as mud and hillclimbing. Could be for sale soon.

Make a good sinker for puka fishing in 2000m :D
