    i took a 650 as part payment for my Z1R when i sold it. That XJ got caned for 2 years with no maintenance and never missed a beat... sold it to pay for a pallet of milk powder when bull-beef was looking promising

Size:  94.0 KB, so this was the true NZ version in 750. Sometimes in silver but 95% of the time in this color. It was a bored out version of the 650 motor.
    Little fog light underneath the main head light.
    If you are into details it was hampered by a rear drum brake , had a very early version of anti dive. It was a weird mix. The XJ550 was a serious production race bike. The 650 never cut cut it in the 750cc class but was an excellent middle weight road bike. The 750 was a good bike but got lost. It didn't do anything the 650 didn't do and never really was a serious weapon in the 750 class.

    i'm aware it is an an import. I was the first NZ owner. The XJ sound, is from how the cogs are cut, according to a m/c mechanic mate. My mates 89 xj600 is chain drive, but has the same "whistle". Quite distinctive. Always hear him coming.
    When I get a WOF, it always has an audience. Totally reliable, and way fast enough for this old fella.

    Great old girl. One of the ground-breaking bikes in motorcycle history with mass production of the in-line four stroke 4s.

    A delight to ride. Mine was a 1976 CB750F model and was the Jap 750 I enjoyed most (esp for long rides) - more than my Suzi, Yamaha etc. Mmmm...
