    Chains..good brand

    Hi Guys

Looking at getting a set of chains, will be used for snow but also want to have in the truck in case of slippery tracks etc.

Any good brands to look out for, any to avoid...not my area of expertise

    cheers

    Cheers Munsey

Goin on a pajero, pretty heavy vehicle so looking for something heavy duty. I have 80/20 tyres on the truck at present, were new when purchased 4 months ago so won't need replacing anytime soon.

Will be used more on mud and clay tracks than in the snow, I can always walk to work! Having said that we normally get a bit of snow on the Bluies and will hopefully save bit of a walk getting to blocks down there as well.

based in Dunedin but happy to buy off the net with a recommendation from someone in the know.

    Cheers

My tip is always have some decent cable ties in the bag, then if something snaps you can jury rig them up, cableties will last a surprising length of time and stop a chain flailing about.

I've got a good set here to fit 30 x9.5 15 . I need to see if they will fit my new truck or how much work if possible to make fit . If they don't , what size tyre you got ? .

For offroad? Icebreaker Chains. They're heavy duty, and have V bars in the links. I use mine on my landcruiser through the winter, they are bloody good. Honestly, spend the coin and don't waste your time with other cheap ones.

You may have trouble with guard clearance on the front.
