Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
Cut a 10" section out of a car tyre inner tube and then cut through so you have a long 10" wide bandage. Wrap it around the CV so it overlaps quite a bit and fix firmly to the shaft and outer end with cable ties. Saw the Hamster do it on Top Gear. Worked fine.
10MRT shooters do it 60 times, in two directions and at two speeds.
You can buy cv boots that split in half so you don't have to pull it all apart to fit them.... I don't know how long they last but they are a good temp fix....
To save them in the future get some alloy gards made up and it will save them form getting shredded on plants when 4 wheel driving.
As a mechanic I wouldn't worry, as long as the disc has got a backing plate you shouldn't get grease on em, if it was easy to get grease on the brakes 90% of the vehicles in gizzy wouldn't stop
