DIFF LOCKS

Hello all,
I've just put a front and rear ARB air- locker in the old ute, they seem to work well, heading out next weekend up into the mountains near home to give them ago.
Has anyone got them fitted in their vehicles ?

Got factory electrics in the cruiser.
You will find you wont use the front much unless absolutely neccacary ;)
Bloody good things. Dont make much difference in a bog but are invaluable for "no road" exploring where 90% of the time your stopped by a cross axle situation.
They are also good for breaking shit:D
On standard size tires your pretty right but bigger tires(diameter) increase the torque threw the drive train for the same level of traction.
Think long wheel brace vs short.
Just avoid having them in on a hard surface with lots of traction and lots of wheel spin cos when it grips it can get expensive.

Exactly what 'namcam said - get too excited and they are great at causing rooooooooarrrrr....... BANG as a madly spinning wheel suddenly drops into a hole and finds traction :oh noes: They are also great for getting you home as a 3WD after the fact :cool:

Next you find that you "need" fiddler brakes too :P

Yea always wanted to build something with fiddle brakes and "fiddle" suspension. IE individually hight controlled from cab

Would be interesting for sure:D I think in competitive situation you would set for the stage, IE lean it over for that nasty off camber.
But it would be super cool for just dicking around seeing what you can drive.

I've got a ARB locker in the rear of my truck. They're great, the only prob i have is it doesn't disengage instantly if it's loaded up. So if you come to a really tight corner I just scuff my way around it, doing the old 10 point turn.

We have 2 80 series cruisers with factory diff locks and they have been many places they perhaps shouldnt have been. I've recently replaced the transfer case in one for lack of use of the diff locks :ORLY:

Your talking the center diff lock? Or have blown the center threw being a cock when they should have had rear and maybe front locks in?

Just some pictures of giving the diff locks a work out. Nothing to serious cause I hate getting stuck!
