Dog mat for quad- worth keeping on bike?

    Hi there,
I recently bought a second hand quad that came with a dog mat on the back. What are your thoughts around keeping The mat on bike or taking it off? Do you find it more convenient with or without it?
If left on … are there enough tying points? Comfort wise?? Cheers

If you're going to carry your mates or kids, it's a lot comfier with it on. You can still tie down and secure equipment/deer no dramas, just requires going under the mat sometimes.

A million and one positive uses for those mats. Only negative is that can hold water and rust the carrier frame a bit. Mines been on for 10 years and its starting to rust a bit too much for my comfort.

yeah get someone else to drive and you hop on the back with and without it, it wont come off again haha
they just get held on with thick zip ties so if need be its only a couple of seconds to come off and a couple of minutes to go back on

just make sure theres something for them to hold on to, these new quads seem to be real short of bars and you need two good hand holds on the back of the quad when a passenger

Or the bloody dog tries to dig through the mat to get at it.
I had some fisholine that was used on machinery, we had a dog that would lick the stuff off the discs and given the opportunity abscond with the paintbrush. The stuff was also pretty good to add to burley

I'd leave it on. If your worried about tie down points just cut/drill holes in the mat either side of the bars so you can loop rope under them.

Great point thanks… yes I’ve been wondering how to get more tie off points for tying stuff on. Also wondering what people do for a passenger to hold on to… a bit tough holding on to a rubber mat hopi g for the best!!

@Ponchorello I leave a couple of loops tied permanently, big enough for passengers to hang on to. If you have a dog on the back just pull them down under the mat so they don't get tangled in them.
