    First big trip

OK we’re on the road, first big trip. Dorkland to Kai Iwi Beach, Wanganui today, slow trip with 40 minutes working a motor vehicle vs tree, then the road closure & cleanup. Van lost a wheel & swiped a tree. Driver pinned, passenger went thru the windscreen. Wear your seatbelts please people. Otherwise it’s natural selection at work!
Truck went great, gotta allow time for chats, no under the radar here.
Got a few days shooting long range out of Wanganui with Hamish/Muddy Waters, then on to the ferry & the South Island.
I’ll reach out when I’m looking for an idyllic camp site by a stream on your farm once I’m down there kids!
Canterbury & Otago are high on the list, although the front lawn at Bannockburn Hotel could be a good option for a while!

If he had a bigger winch he could have parked that on the roof next to his spare tire

Just a little 4 pot diesel.
5.5 litre, only 170 KW but 900 NM of torques helps.

    Love it
If I sell the house, I should have enough to buy one maybe, but I'll need to bludge a tank of diesel

Even the old ex Army ones are reasonably fuel efficient. 20L/100km. The worst I ever got was a half full mog and towing about 6 tonnes: 36L/100km. Not bad considering you can't disconnect the front diff from the front wheels, so it turns all the time.

If your coming down this way, you seriously need to get up the Rakaia, Rangitata or Macalay river etc to name a few. Wake up in the morning, climb onto the roof with your morning coffee and shoot deer

Then use that winch for the spare wheel to winch up the carcas for easy butchering!
