As bob said newer with more hours is better than old with less (corrosion)
The dart are good little boat that ride nicely(for there length) and are legendary for a wet ride. Ie any weather and all the spray comes straight at you.
Alternatively since you are ticking it up anyway you could look at something around 60-70m 3000 tonne 5000 horse power get some crew and quota and look forward to 1- 5 mill every 7 weeks minus 25-30k a day running costs.
New would only set you back around around 35mil, a doer uper maybe 3-5mill
Sounds like a bulletproof plan. What could possibly go wrong

    Re. the 20 hours - "
We bought the boat with the engine having had a full recondition (paperwork to show work done at cost of $3000). Only had no more than 20 hours done on the engine since then."

20 since the recondition. I know nothing about reconditioning though, so have no idea whether that makes your opinion of it any better

Oh ok didn't read that bit? so it should be mechanically sound, and if well looked after Ie flushed properly every outing and used regularly corrosion shouldn't be a problem but its a risk you take with a motor that old.

the recon will cover basic engine componants rings bearings, it normally wont have replaced electrics coils loom stators etc which tend to break down with age and cost shit loads to replace. if i was you i would do the day skipper coarse and look at a fi glass warrior awesome boats well made dry sea boat stable and lite you could launch on your own dont touch an outboard engine older the late 90's even that might be pushing it inboard engines are good provided they are fresh water cooled via heat exchanger.
