    Fitting hydraulic steering to boat

Ok putting hydraulic steering in my Sea Nymph 566, prick of a job getting it to bits, working in cramped quarters and punching holes thru my thin skin!!!
Now what’s the best way to remove the steering cable from the boat? Forwards or backwards or in bits? Would like to save for recycling!
    Boom, cough,cough,cough
