Interesting read, newer cars have more electronics to get wet as well, sometimes in stupidly low places
Interesting article, ta for posting. But how does a vehicle, in a raging torrent get swept upstream? Cannot remember water running uphill whilst I was in Oz.
"A Canberra man was killed on June 5 after his four-wheel drive was swept upstream in a swollen riven during wild weather in Australia."
That's why the old series Landrovers were so good for river crossings - you just open the doors wide open, resting them on the front guards and you let the water run straight through as you crossed the river. This reduced the 'windage' of the water against the side of the vehicle, and washed all the mud off the floor boards and your boots at the same time.
Here's and interesting video of deep water flotation.

Must admit I was surprised how quickly the tail of the old Safari lifted in rising water. Luckily the 'huge weight of little power' kept the front down as we chugged inwards.
There are only three types of people in this world. Those that can count, and those that can't!
