Foton Tunland Owners

I've just purchased a 2014 Foton Tunland 4x4 with 30,000kms. I paid cash and got a really good deal. I know some of you will swear off Chinese made (its what I can afford at 24 after buying my first house) I'm keen to hear from other drivers of these vehicles. Does anyone on the forum own one and know any common faults to look out for? just trying to possibly learn from others mistakes with this vehicle before I make them myself.

I still have my old faithful surf as i haven't brought myself to sell it yet, fingers crossed I wont have to go back to it :thumbsup:.

Rear diff oil needs regular attention.

Seem like a tough unit to me, getrag box, cummins donk, you don't get much tougher than those two

Had one since 2013 and traded it two weeks ago. Didn’t have a single issue with it mate.

got a customer with one from new its done roughly 60000 weve done a clutch and wiper assy on it so far

Made in China - so what. Where are the Colorado's, Dmax's and Rangers made - yup Thailand! How could their country of manufacture be of any consequence. If the middlemen doing the purchasing are up to the mark selling us product with a good QC process I don't see any difference.

Ive got a T2 two wheel drive absolutely no problems oil & filters are cheap maintenance is the key on all things mechanical. Recently did the top end on my four stroke KTM the mechanic commented on how little wear the motor was showing key note: oil changes at 5 hrs / new air filter every ride .

The Ktm rebuild would cost the same as a new foton[emoji16]

No wasn't too bad Brad, the friggin TT350 cost me some skin though I still haven't got the courage up to tell the better half about that one yet! The KTM is heading back to the shop again stator problems again Austrians ;-)

Tried to like the tunland I took for a spin and was impressed but the arse was all over the places on corrugated gravel, had a really hard ride as well. Wanting to like it as it's so much cheaper :oh noes:

Vans are usually the same. The rear end is usually set up to take a load which adds to the stiffness.

I was talking to a cocky the other day who was complaining about how much time his wife spends in the car and in town. He said "She thinks that if she lets the oil settles in the sump the motor will rust". :)

My binos are made in China and they are damned good and well made (Vanguard).

10 or so years ago people scoffed at Hyundai, and now look at them. The same will happen with Chinese products.

I have a customer with one and is getting rid of it.
motor seems good but his is constantly having electrical faults and having to be returned to the dealer.

Paid $16,900 for it. @veitnamcam

Hate when the wife has been using vehicles, go to jump in but the seat is right up against the steering wheel, get that sorted and turn key on and some obscene pop music starts blasting out the stereo at full noise, all rear vision mirrors pointed directly back at the drivers face....

Yeah the back is a lot better with some weight in it. For the price , I couldn’t go past it.

I can believe that but I'm not putting weight in it for a 9hr drive up the country. Took a trition over the same bit of road and it behaved nicely. Yet to try any of the others

Luckily we have the same seat position, like the same music (mostly) and it is just a flick of the lever under the mirror to toggle between positions.

My last hilux (2008) had it's clutch done at 50,000km :yuush: Put a heavy duty one in, then the motor blew up (not related of course)...

We have a contractor who has a couple of Fotons for 'boys' trucks. Both have gone well with no issues. Don't get that well looked after. They'd buy another.

$16990 was a good deal man, holden gave me $17k trade with 80000 on the clock

It is going to be tricky getting gadgette#2 driving. With the seat all the way forward her hip has to come about 200mm off the seat back when she pushes in the clutch.

put three cushions under her bumgadget -and in self defense practise rapid head movements like a weka or winston peters on the make .if she asks youre enetering the world headshaking championship or sneezing ,just be suitably bloody vague.
