    Fuked quad

Daughters bf got given a honda 450 quad it runs and drives but the frame is totally fuked. Has anyone made one into a mini buggy or offroader? Thinking of ideas for it..

Had an old 3 wheeler years ago. Frame underneath was stuffed. Striped it out and got same size pipe and benders and used the stuffed bits and copied them and welded the new bits in where needed with a small mig. Didn't take much time and turned out great. Longest is disassembly and reassemble of the bike.

sack barrows from supercheap/repco are a good place to start for wheels and steel cheaper than buying parts seperately

This thing is rotten theres no front left where the front lower suspension arms bolt on, the lower 1/4 of the frame is gone except where swing arm bolts on and engine mounts did a temp welding job to hold the lower arms on to see if it drove. Looks like it got left to sit in a padddock in long grass for years for some reason. Cleaned the carb out and hooked a car battery up to it and it started and runs fine

Good frame getting harder to find, try a few wreckers, one down this way has hundreds of Honda's, if your serious about another frame can call in and see him.

@tetawa thanks ill keep that in mind. Keeping an eye out for buggy type frames as well. Hes a pretty industrious young fella always mucking around with something mechanical and gets it done as well. Not one of those guys thats got half done shit and nothing finished stuff all over the place.

Be worthwhile doing a frame swap if you can find one. I got a trx300 with a rooted frame from cow cocky duties, patched it back up and goes mint. Looks like turds, which is an anti-theft device but goes mint.

Problem with these for anything else is in reality the track is too narrow and the front isn't too much of an issue as you can space the swingarms out but the back end is quite expensive to do anything with because of it's design and where the load is carried.

But, looking on the bright side he just got given likely a grand or two worth of parts so he's well on the win.
