Hey all I've been mucking around with the lower unit from my outboard and ended up draining the oil as it was pretty 'used' looking.
I'm wondering what type of gear oil to use.
We have some for the pivot gears, being Castrol Alpha SP 220 and 460.
I know the 460 will be too thick though.
Heading for a drive today, maybe someone could point me in the right direction.
Outboard is a Johnson 1977 85 hp
