Hmm I've been running BP exclusively for over a year now. I've been told it (Gull) has water in it, and it fucks common rail fuel pumps, but I'm running a dirty old Hilux.

Gull diesel comes from a Singapore refinery and wont fuck engines, it's actually better quality than what is produced here in NZ.
There higher grade petrol has 10% ethanol (Force 10) and I run it in my stock standard 454ci corvette, runs like a dream.
Beavis - ofcourse your local BP retailer would say that especially if he has a Gull S/S 5 - 10 cents a litre cheaper than him around the corner.
I run trucks, diggers, utes and my boat on Gull diesel and alls well.
We have just completed a job on a $30 MIL Gin Palace and the skippers refuelling on Thursday, taking on over 100,000 litres of Gull diesel

Marsden Point refines product, fuel is sent to the Wiri oil terminal thru one pipeline, have you ever thought of how they seperate the different grades of fuel when they pump it???
It's not rocket science but lets just say nothing is wasted.

Only when oil companies run there Depot bulk storage tanks low, they pump water in them and as fuel has a lower sg the fuel floats on top and is drawn off, sometimes they get it wrong and get a guts full of water and it's delivered to the S/S where the poor old punters cop it.

Remember a couple of years ago the Mobil site in Wellsford did just that, on a long weekend as well, shit it was on the 6 O'clock news.

On another occasion a certain Oil Company had a bulk storage tank with approx 1 million litres of Jet A1 in it, the steel bottom sprung a leak, they wanted to keep the tank in service as it supplied fuel to many customers so they continously ran water into the tank at a faster rate than the leak thereby keeping the fuel above the leak.

Well this had been going on for several months while the back room boffins got there shit together, budgets prepared etc and a long weekend comes along and some dopey maintenance worker accidently turns off the tap, the boys turn up after the long weekend and do a sounding on the tank and find its empty, all 1 million litres of the stuff gone.

They spent more money than the fuel was worth on consultants and trying to recover the stuffand doubt they would have recovered 1% of it.
