I have one of the variety you can buy from H&F. it's OK mounted on big red handlebars but I find in tight places you will be smacking your barrel or butt or both on scrub unless you use a short rifle.

I saw another bloke use a mounting system wherein he has the rifle mounted under his thigh, alongside the engine angled from toe of his boot sloping upwards towards the back carrier of the bike. It may be worth thinking about building a semi vertical carrier / rigid gunslip / scabbard that fits from behind your heel sloping up just in front of the rear carrier frame.

I this something that might work ...

    $70

    Double gun rack,
Keep your gun, bow, fishing rods or shovel secure when you're riding the trails. This handy mount features a multimount base that locks at 15° intervals. The forks are large enough to carry a padded gun case and rotate for a custom fit. Mounts to both tubular and composite racks (single and double $70.

Yes these are ones you want.
I have on on my quad, they last well, daily use, must be 5 or 6 years old.
The also keep you gun nice and tight, some other models allow it jump around to much IMO.
Try and mount it in on the front carrier rather than on handle bars with is just dam dangerous.

I bought ATV Tek ones from amazon.com, there is a large range of different models. There is also the Kolpin Rhino series and others.
