I don't notice much difference between empty and loaded, definitely notice a trailer on but it drops away fast as soon as I go back to ute only. I go up to max legal weight reasonably often (or used to) when I was carting chain, 825 or so KG of chain maxes me out for rear axle weight and I can carry a standard size passenger and myself but nothing in the rear seats.
Very few, Ford dropped the manual option in 2017 for NZ.
I don't give two hoots about emissions classes, I care what it costs to fuel the thing per 100,000Km (which should indicate the emissions the vehicle produces but is never used for this). The interesting point behind the statement you make there though, is that the PX3 auto is rated lower on fuel consumption and co2 than the earlier version auto despite the fact that practical evidence shows it is worse. The point I'm making, is that regardless of vehicle manufacturer the manual option will burn less fuel and cost less to run than the auto (I'm just using Ford's product as that is what I have in real world figures in front of me).
Some banks offer very low interest rates on loans for "green" vehicles. ANZ for instance lends up to $80,000 at 1% p.a. interest that you can use to buy a new or used hybrid vehicle (among many other "green" purchases).
So even if you don't particularly want a hybrid, if you're considering finance then these bank loans are about as cheap as it gets. I think the hybrid Hilux is one of the very few utes available that would qualify for this.
Fwiw our main car is a Lexus hybrid (effectively the Toyota system) and it's very nice to drive. Heaps of torque off the line, almost totally quiet at idle. This is a different system however, in my case the electric and petrol motors both output power to an e-CVT trans.
Leaning towards the sr5 cruiser non hybrid
Our fleet is all Toyota and they are orsum,
not the most flashy or coolest utes out there but they just work,
I have a fleet discount with North Western Toyota and could put in a few words if you want to try your luck.
Not all Toyota dealerships have the same owner or sales team so service and discounts are varied,
North Shore Toyota (same owner as NWT) is probably the worst dealer I have ever been to
unless you look rich and important, you will just be wasting your time going to NST.
Yeah I'm still awaiting the quote from whangarei one from Monday. Looks like.ill take my business back to.auckland. I'll keep it in mind with your contact
For what it's worth.
The hilux hybrid is supposed to be short term. So resale value may be affected in future.
The son got one recently as it was only auto option.
Swmbo only drives auto. It's been okay so far.
Hesding to look.at a manual on Friday. Was tossed up between the dmax but after talking to some wholesale guys I know they dauf the dmax has a worse resale value and problems start creeping in around 100k. Aswell.as.the hilux will usually have a better resale. I'll see how I go..
Yeah, I've run into something similar with dealerships under the same top ownership but different management, one case the usual dealer's service desk had a guy off work and I turned up but they couldn't do it. They dropped my vehicle to the other side of town for me and rung me up to confirm the filter changes etc that the other side wanted to do and sent me an email invoice confirming works and price but when I went to collect the other side tried to charge $230 approx. more. I pulled up the email and said nup, already invoiced I'll drive back and pay the outfit I confirmed the work with and you can sort it out with them. Nup, not taking the vehicle...
Several high powered phone calls and a back room meeting or three later they took payment at the agreed price and I didn't need to drive back to the other side of town to pay. Cheeky sods were simply trying to charge the agreed price with a ticket clip! Shitty trick. I was in that side of that part of the country for another week so I made a point of stopping in to discuss it with the dealer's service man who I knew from previous work, he was pretty pissed off by them and didn't know the where doing it. Apparently a 'booking fee' they were claiming as legit...
As long as the T-busses are still working they are pretty good, but like anything post-2010 or so I'm not comfortable with them as a long term proposition or as a second-owner or a higher mileage situation unless you get em cheap enough, are prepared to write off r&m costs and also keep an eye on the diagnostics so you might get a bit of warning before the thing poos itself.
Where did ypu order from . I went to whangarei and they were hopeless with customer service. I'm heading for a manual one test drive on Friday.
Was there a waiting them. The one you getting non hybrid ?
