Hopefully some of you Hilux experts out there can help me.
I have a 2022 SR5 and I want to get a bit more clearance.
I have been told that I can do a 2" lift without needing any vehicle certification, and I should be able to go up a tyre size as well - more body clearance and diff clearance.
I'm in Lower Hutt - any suggestions who I could or should get to do some work on my ute, and any advice on the type of lift - I know there are a few different kits - all different prices...

Tyre size is something like a 5% increase in circumference before needing a certificate.

Drive a 2023 Hilux, got a 2 inch lift in the front and went to 275/70R17. Good amount of clearance and no cert
So you can get a 5% boost on your RUC by doing this?Quote:

I have your exact year / model. I have an ARB OME suspension lift/upgrade. I am also one size up on tyres. Stock is 265x65 r17 where as I run 265x70 r17. You can’t go any larger then that on tyres without mods to make them fit. I found that the one size up actually makes my speedo run true and accurate too. No cert etc needed for what I have above.
Normally most manufacturers have a more than 5% tolerance in the speedo anyway, for COF it can't be more than 10% out so I'm told and the same for WOF incidentally but I have never heard of it being checked at WOF ever. Part of the cert requirements is recalibrating the speedo, and providing the cert for the change in 'approved' tyre size - so the RUC thing really is a non-event for real life purposes.Quote:

Don't go bigger than a 265/70R17 , Hilux's can be a real pain in the ass with upsizing the tyres especially more so if you don't have a bull bar.
265/70R17 is a nice size for them and has a lot of brands and patterns available and that size will correct your speedo
Thanks a lot guys, this is what I needed to understand.
2" lift with 256/70/R17 + bullbar is the go.
Any suggestions on what sort of bullbar I should get -? I want to retain the foglights and if possible the sensors for parking etc around town.
