Hilux Timing Belt - Change Or Not?

2013 Hilux D4D one owner with only 70km - timing belt due at 150km or 10 years. What to do seeing it is 10 years old? Good question for our resident expert Cambo. Cheers guys.

Be very unlikely for a genuine belt to break after 10yrs. Seen some that have done 25-30 and still looked mint.
But the cost of a belt and tensioner vs an engine is quite different.
I'd personally do the belt change

DM me if you want me to do that for you.
I'm away with rally duties till next week so I may not get the msg for a bit.

Balance of the cost of replacement vs cost of a failure. Not cheap to do but catastrophic and costly if it fails.

The front engine job on the Hilux is not hard, don’t let any mechanics convince you otherwise. Belt, tensioner and water pump, motor is dead easy to time. Take the radiator out for maximum room, flush it and do a coolant change. While you’re there there is an argument to pull off & clean the intake manifold which from memory only requires one special tool (Crowfoot spanner).

Suggest pulling the injectors, replacing sealing washers, o- rings etc. You can buy a seal kit. Toyota recommend doing them every 45,000km. The o -rings leak and allow carbon to work it's way up the injector body.

Thats the earlier models. After 2012 its not required. Different injectors.
And its the injector seat that leaks not the O rings.
The 45k thing was introduced to check valve clearances, which means the injectors have to be removed and oh look you have to replace the seats and seals.
That procedure was later changed to "audible inspection" from 2012. Wonder why....?

Don't need to touch the radiator. There's plenty of room.
Intake clean is a good idea at some point. But thats not a 5min job like the t/belt.

150k is a larger service but not as big as a 90 or 180k.
Every 2yrs or 30k its diff oils, fuel filter, and brake fluid.
150k additional bits from usual service is basically t/belt and coolant drain and refill.
The 90k service is all fluids and filters.
