Interesting outcome today. We drove to Taupo and back, 187km each way, to pick someone up and bring them back here. I thought I’d be a good sport and go along for the ride. The Wife drove (with her infamous right foot, made of pure Pb). No stops on either leg, two adults there, three adults back plus luggage, car was deliberately left running for the 2-3 minutes at the house in Taupo.
Fuel consumption over the 374km was 4.6 L/100km. Quite a few decent foot-flat truck overtakes on the passing lanes, not grandma driving by any stretch. No cruise control used, just sensible observation of the speed limit and a Steady Eddy 90-95km/h on the back track along the Kaimais.
4.6 is quite a lot lower than I was expecting, especially with ‘Er Indoors behind the wheel. Pretty amazed at what a 2.0L petrol can do these days.
Apologies for the shit photo!
