Driving styles have a massive amount to do with it. My father used to drive all his cars on the smell of an oily rag while I treat my cars like go-karts and use 30-50% more than he did.

We're cut from the same cloth. I was over in the States and caught up with an ex-employee. He took me to see his consulting rooms in his Prius and drove slower than a snail on Mogadon. It was averaging 49.X mpg and he was gonna get it to 50, do or die. Did my head in.

Both my vehicles are drinkers but you don't own things like that to putt them around.
