    Jet Boats

So I can't be the only joker on the forum who regularly hunts out of a J Boat.Put up your boat, set up,rivers you hunt, etc. No eggbeaters as you'rve already got your thread . Just like gats,I've owned a few over the years.Current boat is a 3.6m 2 stage Scott running a M18A T. Dyno assessed @ 265 horses.$cheap to run vs previous cranked 8's @ around 10 L/hr just plodding on the plane. Does all I need it to. As a Cantab I hunt the Ymak & infrequently the Clarence .Also regularly hunt the usual Sth Westland rivers.Name: IMG20221218082359.jpg

Does anyone head down the Wairaurihiri? Would it be folly in a 3.6M boat? I've watched a few video's and heard the stories about dinged boats and sinkings and the lake is known to rough up super-bad too so I'm a bit (very) leery but would love to give it a nudge just to say I've done it. It sounds like getting the flow right is critical, too low and too bony, too high and too big/dodgy.

I've done it in a previous Hamilton 151,but would have no hesitation in doing it in my current 3.6m.But yeah just like the Clarence you'll show some battle scars .I,d be keen to run it again if u need a second boat. The dog leg run across the Lake gave me the shits more than the grade 3 river run.Shipping beam on greenies from chopped up Nor West. The rule of thumb is to get across the Lake early in the morning before the breeze gets up,and run both bilges assuming you have two plumbed up.The river run is an adrenaline rush, lock to lock, with very little heads up.The most exilerating 1 1/4 hr down run of any river I've boated leaving me mentally exhausted as a solo first timer boating it.Recommended for more advanced skill set.from memory she drops 600 feet from the outlet to the mouth. Its a blast!!
