That photo is about 8 kms downstream of the upper limit for that river. Last summer there was bugger all water so you would have been doing exceptionally well to get up there.
Above that uplifting limit you are only permitted to do 5 knots (ground speed), so with the water speed taken into account I can legally plane, as those boats plane very easily. Coming downstream, well turn the outboard off and I am a raft
That 5 knots within 200m of the shore is a 120 year old maritime regulation that hasn't really caught up with modern day. Some people complain about the noise, but conveniently forget about their horrendously noisy helicopter that dropped them into that remote spot to fish...and will be back shortly to pick them back up. Whose noise takes precedence??? The well heeled fly fisherman who burnt 600L of JetA1 to get there and back, or my 20L for the days outing???![]()
