Went with the KLX450R in the end, found a good example at a sharp price. Bigger tank is definitely an advantage. The KLX has a stirling reputation. Can't really go wrong with them. Just change the oil frequently and they will go and go and go.

I know a guy who runs these with the snow tracks on the rear and ski up front. Changes the oil every second customer. And they are ripping at 90% power all day long doing that sort of carry on.
