    Deeper water can do interesting things to the blades of your radiator fan too, like pulling them into the radiator core... A lot of guys with electric fans put an interrupt switch on the fan control circuit so that when crossing the fan isn't able to start under power (although it's a good idea to wire the thing with a warning setup so you know the fan is off!). It's only an issue if you do a long run and everything is hot and you drop straight into the water - pays to be careful with that one as you won't often realise you've holed the core until you're out the other side and the gauge starts peaking.

    Also, the diff and gearbox breathers can create an issue if not extended up into the top of the cab. Crankcase breather vents likewise...

    Hi JochC,they call the auto gear box a 4 speed,but third gear is 1.000:1,fourth is over drive 0.694:1. That second gear will get you a speeding ticket on the high way.Lols

    @No.3 Absolutely spot on.
    Get those extended breathers up high, and as for the fan...yes...so true.
    I 'extended' my breathers up inside the body. Never noticed any diff oil smell inside either.
    Figured that if the water level ever got that high inside the cab I'd be swimming out the door anyway.

    Had water half way up the windscreen of an Army Mercedes Benz dump truck (Unimog size but bigger and six wheel drive) driving up the Whakatane river in the early 90's. So 8 foot under. We were delivering hut construction materials for DoC. Truck had just come out of workshops and had a new air filter and snorkel fitted, so we knew it was airtight. DoC dude reckoned he saw trout through the windscreen
