    Landcruiser Help/advice

Excuse the poor terms or incorrect naming.
I recently purchased a 1986 LX Cruiser. Just put it through its first warrant and it’s failed due to problems with U bolts, bolt base plates and possibly leaf springs center bolt and location recess.
My local has had problems finding any replacement base plates or U bolts before even looking so the leaf spring bolt.
Are there any of you fine chaps that can give me advice on where to go or who to call.
    Cheers

If your local also sells tyres,I'm not surprised they can't find parts.they often get them in them find it's wrong part !!!

    What exactly is the problem.
U bolts can get munted but the plates are usually salvageable unless they have been butchered.
The spring leaf centre bolts are usually round headed to locate in the top plate recess.
A quick pass on the grinder does in a pinch if new bolts are unobtainable.

I have helped to "manufacture" centre bolt for leaf spring on a heavy truck,so can't see it being a huge problem for lighter 4x4...

Grade 12.9 socket head cap screws/bolts are pretty much the same thing as proper centre bolts.

There are a few things. The front springs have been fitted with what looks like a custom (term used lightly) skid plate. The U bolts have been spread and tightened to the point the plate has bent around the nuts. The whole front axle seems to have moved backwards a small distance. The rear axle is actually rocking when the vehicle is moved forward then backwards. Worried that the round location hole may be flogged out. On both the front and rear the leaf spring bolts have been bent a lot and look like they could possibly break.

It almost sounds like the leaf spring perches on the diff may not be flat, allowing the diff to 'rock'

Sounds like you need to get the thing apart and actually work out exactly what needs to be replaced/repaired on it...
