About LinkBacks@Delphus I remember reading in the AA magazine back in the 1980's about a LTD Ford that had been taken in for a WOF. The "inspector" tested the handbrake by engaging it, selecting "D" and stomping on the gas. The torque twisted the driveshaft like a corkscrew shortening it so that the trans spat out the splined coupling, the 351 then over-revved and did in some valves before Ol' Mate managed to lift his boot...
