Thread: Mitsi Triton vs Isuzu D Max

@Mistral any more detail on the capped service. I looked at a Mitsi and the servicing price put me off

Went through the same exercise last year, and did a lot of side by side comparisons with all of the double cab 4x4 utes. Got the Mitsi in the end, as it was considerably cheaper, and you can run them in AWD mode 24/7/365 and not stuff anything. Done 25,000km so far and no complaints.

Disclaimer - I may have put a lot of weighting on the AWD feature, as this was something I had become accustomed to with the Prado I had previously.

$15,000 in servicing over 10 years?
Suspect Nissan preload the servicing price into the original purchase price.

Yea services on my MQ triton run average about 700bucks....this is in Nelson.
The same services seem a lot cheaper in Invercargill ay @223nut

FWIW, just went through the same exercise looking at the new Navara, Triton, and Rangers.
I like the Navara & Ranger, but returned the Triton after a 15 min test drive. It just felt cheap. Certainly not the same build quality as the 09
Triton I had, and it was easy easy to see why they are cheaper than every other mainstream Ute on the market atm.
You certainly get what you pay for.

My boss had a brand new 2016 Triton which had a gearbox/transmission problem after about 6 months. Was replaced under warranty though. Have a feeling it was a manual. Was very nice on the road for a ute, smooth, quiet and plenty of power I thought. And I'm not a bitzashity fan.

Ouch, Just had our 2016 Colorado serviced by dealer, 50K Service was quoted @ $350 and that was the total cost.
First time I have driven it in 12 months and it will most likely be another 12 months before I drive it again.
For some reason I much prefer my 28 year old Pajero SWB
If I were buying another new ute, again I most likely would be looking a DMAX

For something that older and second hand, new vehicles aren't worth it!!!!

Any licenced mechanic should be able to service.
Warranty might need to be determined by a dealer.

I'm hard on cars my first 50,000km was belting up and down dirt roads faster than I should.

Mitzie here seem to insist on them servicing for the warranty, tried to do it at work in certified workshop, they said warranty would be invalid. Nissan was ok with it, but had to use genuine filters etc.

Toyota are the same, that is why they brought in the capped service plan

Replaced our 2015 ranger last year looked at them all mitzi, dmax, ranger, Nissan, Colorado and Mazda ended up with a Mazda bt50 cab n a half 4x4. So many parts have formoco on them it's amusing. 3.2l diesel, quite liked the dmax but couldn't see where the extra $20,000 had been hidden.
Also the commercial service plan is capped at $200.

And now all those parts on the latest Mazdas will be market Isuzu

Just went through the same exercise and looked at all the current available brands. Ended going for the Mitsi because it stacked up really well in comparison tests and the value is unbeatable. Hope I'm right.
