    Moan about registration cost.

Just having a whinge at the cost of registration costs for motorbike over 600cc.
$267 for 6 months is crazy.

I live in Christchurch and you would think they would want to encourage people to ride motorbike to reduce congestion, and whats worse is an ad on the radio saying that most accidents for motor bikes are caused by cars not looking properly at intersections, yet the motorbikes pay the ACC costs.

Not that complaining on here is going to help at all, just letting you know I'm slightly pissed off.
Glad I don't drive a diesel any more also, as I'd be really pissed then.

Its cos all the mtrcross injuries get the costs lumped under motorbikes and those guys pay none of it. It makes the mtrbikes look like huge accident stats and the robbers think lets hook into them somehow.Bloody daylight robbery.

I know of cases when scooter riders have accidents and that gets said as a motorbike crash, even though they pay very very little in rego and don't even have a bike licence.
Also farm accidents get written as motorbike accidents.

Interesting you mention motorcross, I've never heard if they get labelled under the same thing or not. I read an article in the Waikato times not too long ago and motorcross accidents were the second highest cost to ACC after rugby injures, which don't pay ACC levies either.
I think netball was 3rd highest and then another motorbike, not sure if it was road or trail riding or both was 4th.

Vehicles are getting so efficient that the take on fuel is down, I'm getting 8.4 litres/ 100 out of my Ranger on a trip. So has to come from other sources

The less efficient your vehicle is the less percent of your running costs is ruc.

Lets say 5 bucks ruc per 100km and 8l diesel 12 bucks .ruc is a huge chunk of your running costs, getting close to half.

Now my wagon runs more like 15-20 liters per 100km or 30 bucks so 5 bucks ruc is more like 15 percent of running costs.

This makes it interesting when you weigh up petrol vs diesel

Theyre losing more on petrol. RUC must be an amazing revenue. A guy up here I believe writes a cheq for around $150 k per week plus fuel,

I believe that, few guys round here would be close to that also.
