My new hunting mobile / winter project

snapped this one up from Drahthaar, been looking for a sub-$500 runner on TM for ages.....

    she's a 81 TF100 X with engine, front wheel and forks transplant from a 97 TF125 W

started the cleaning and inspection process tonight.

    back carrier off
    removed and cleaned oil tank
checked and cleaned the air filter compartment
removed the fork boots - seals look good - so that is one less job
looks like the carb could do with a rebuild - that will be a first for me

found a guy close by who is wrecking another TF125, so might go and scrounge up parts tomorrow.

will probably turn it into a rat bike, matt black and olive green

    DONT DO IT!

Fix what needs fixing and use it or restore to original and use it.

it's already a mongrel Cam, if it was original I would not even be thinking it

pretty cool that the motors and most of the running gear has not changed much since 73

Rat bike doesn't look as functional as you would want.

As with most things GM, the level of "ratness" can go completely overboard

I was just thinking of a matt spray job, and possibly asking Moonhunt for some mean old boar tusks to mount on the front fender, hehe....

Just make sure you can remember where you left it, ... and find it.

10MRT shooters do it 60 times, in two directions and at two speeds.

    EBF

I had TF125 as a hunting bike for years.

Rugged as hell and reliable too.

I put a 13 tooth on the front and a 64 tooth on the back.

Top speed was only about 40kph but shit could it climb.

    Cheers
    Pete
