Just rewired my boat , don't know how but I've managed it an everything works wtf ! . So finally put nav lights on well just the port and starboard LEDs . How important is the white one in the middle the one sometimes mounted on a pole ?

you want port/stbd and all round white since I assume your wee beastie goes faster than 7 knots. You can get away without a stern light though

Boat wiring it ain't that hard if you take your time,
Anchor light if anvhoring in the dark is a good option munsey
All round light with your side lights on means a motor making way and underway, difference from a motor vessel to a yacht. Putting the light behind you i.e mounted on a stern pole reduces white glare when underway at night. If you have it on a different switch to your port and starboard lights, then you can use it as a riding light or a handy light for night fishing.
And I do hope you used marine grade or tinned copper electrical cable ;)
Just checking - I've had to rewire a few boats where the owner seems to have gone to Repco and bought speaker wire ;)
So I need to get these lights for my run about? It's 14 foot 6.

Whilst you guys are on the subject of tinned wires, when doing my apprenticeship many years ago I was taught to use 70/30% solder for all electrical gear EXCEPT marine. Wehad to use 60/40% because the 70/30 was too brittle and gave way after a few years with the vibration. The 60/40 is obviously softer but doesn't fracture with boat vibrations. I changed all contacts on my boat and never had an electrical issue all the years we had it.
My main reason for my nav lights was not so much to be compliant , but personal safety in poor light or fog . Also ,if I did have a breakdown while setting pots etc on eavening I can be found ! . It's a big ocean to find one little boat . Can't believe how bright the LEDs are , don't no of any downside to them ?
No downside to LEDs these days :)
