    Off Road Caravans

    Hey all

I'm considering getting a decent tandem caravan & doing a long term / working holiday, has anyone on here got - used one for a long period ?

Looking at a Titan, JB, Harvok, Nextogen or NZ made Kiwiline, the Ozzy made stuff looks nicely made but then so does the Kiwiline, just after some feed back on what they're like to live in, I'm only a little prick so don't need an enormous amount of space but do have a ton of shit so need plenty of storage.

Hey Phillipo, Might also be a good idea to reach out to @Happy as he build one from scratch as a off-roader - aimed as similar to takingthe best of the Aussie systems into a single build. He's know the in's and outs mate.

Kiwiline seem like a good idea too, yet, for the money, Ecocampor are hard to beat if they're tough enough?

Yikes that Idiya looks flash. And expensive. And heavy. I imagine there's little change out of 120K for that???

Re the Chinese import stuff: I have had a bit to do with Chinese imported horse floats. And in one sentence...its not pretty. They are cheap for a reason.

Have you thought about a 2nd hand higher end horse truck? Can be just as luxurious, but more roomy and instead of horses coming along, there's plenty of room in the rear for a quad and tinny to come along for the ride.

None of these modern units have a genuine double burner fire place though. It's all diesel and gas heating and that's not going to get any cheaper.
Whatever I get in to, I'm going to have to cure that problem pronto.
Kiwi line Pukeko looks the goods too.

Same dosh as the Idiya basically.
John Cadogan did a useful bit on towing 3.5T full time (and more importantly towing 3.5T off road!): In essence he said "don't do it with any of the double cab utes, or even a 2 hundy series cruiser. Tow with a light truck. But that's even more dosh etc etc etc

We have a full off road caravan it weights 2.9 t and has a all up weight of 3.5t.
We imported it from Aussie. Which is not as hard as you think.
There is a lot of choices over there as Aussie makes the best off road ones.
We tow it with a 79 series v8 double cab land-cruiser which it needs as you need grunt, we will more than likely need to up chip for more power.
Flick me a PM if you want all the goss on how to import one.

You'd go broke doing regular standard service on them, let alone something "extra" like brake pads.

the kiwilines run fully independent suspension per wheel inc 2 shocks per wheel. other brands mostly use torsion bar axles.
