    Oh bugger....

Today started with a oil and filter change on the Landy, then thought I'd just have a look for that small exhaust manifold leak...
Hmmm, no less than three broken manifold studs on the Nissan FD35

Tried an Ezi-out on the first, went through three sizes and no joy. Re-coil kit to the rescue!!

At least you managed to drill the middle of it!
The amount of stuff we get to fix after someone has already drilled miles off center and or broken the drill or tap off in it:rolleyes:

A good trick that works 90 percent of The time is to weld a decent size nut onto the stud.
Doesn't matter if it is below flush just get in there with the tig and build it up till you can sit the nut over the weld and weld it on.
All the heat goin into the stud makes it expand but it can't go anywhere so when it cools it shrinks and should undo relatively easily. Just make sure you let it cool before trying.

Pretty slick job for a computer geek. The right tools always helps.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

I like the Landy owners that insist that Landy's don't rust because of the stretchy ali panels, ... over the rusty steel framework.

Might have to try that time soon VC. Arc plant should do just as well.

    Spot on

    I owned a Over-Rover for awhile .
I spent more time under it , than driving it .

PS - Good skills getting that stud out , it can be a prick of a job .

Drill right though them with a 6mm bit for 10mm and 8mm for 12.
As the drill exits they grab as wind themselves in further. Easy out - easy
I've done around 200 I reacon on Nissan RBs
Trick was shown to me by the engine reconditioned as used to struggle big time with them. Super easy
