    Out board motor

I'm thinking my motor is f@&$ed ! If it is I will not repair it . Would rather replace it with a low hrs 50 -90 hp late model replacement . 60 hp would be perfect , as you would expect its slim pickings on tard me . So if anyone is in a boat shop keep it in mind pls . As an indication brand new 4 stroke merc 60 $9,699 . Thought they would be more expensive than that

Make sure your quote includes guages and controls. Some bloody shops list them as "Optional Extras" to make it appear cheaper.

FFS I got a quote for a brand new 6.5m trailer boat and the bloody trailer and motor were listed as "optional extras",

Mercs up to 140 HP are badge engineered by Tohatsu, I'm pretty sure. Price the Tohatsu 60, it might be a bit cheaper but it's the same unit.
10MRT shooters do it 60 times, in two directions and at two speeds.

I was told my 2013 Mercury was Merc branded and built.
Tohatsu were building up to 40 hp only. I also researched myself and found the same thing.
All the leading brands it seems, can be made up of each others parts. Yamaha built a heap of Mercs until 2006.
There is also talk that outboards built in China are having less warranty claims than those built in the states and Europe. Go figure.

It would appear the Yam 4 strokes 50-60and 70hp are the same so if you went that way would be a mug not to get the 70 I recon
