    Ply or glass.

I don't know much about boats so hence the question. For a runabout doing a bit of lake work n sea fishing(in shore I'd imagine) is there any advantages between the two. Pros/cons etc. I'm considering a ply but am I better off waiting and getting a glass??? Your input would be much appreciated .

Ply/glass over ply are heavy and hence ride well usually and require plenty of horse power.
    Ply can rot.
    So can glass.
    So can alloy.

There is no hard and fast rule but generally a ply or glass over ply or glass boat is heaver than equivalent alloy.
Glass boats can be made with compound curves in the hull to really cut threw chop, this is not really practical to manufacture in alloy or ply(a compound curve)

ply is probably heavier than straight glass.

Glass all day everyday , I've worked on enough glass over ply/ply boats to really dislike them except for a punt I lofted out and built at trade school when doing my boat building apprenticeship
