I had a 120 Prado V6 4.0 for 6 years as a company car, in Aus.
We travelled all over WA, NT, SA and Tassie in that truck, often driving across the Nullabor towing a camper. We went properly outback in it, some epic trips.
The average fuel consumption over ~200,000km was 16L/100km. Roof bars, beacon, UHF antennas, bull bar.
The other guys mostly had the 1KD diesels in theirs. I had access to all the fleet data, and because I’m a bit of a truck nerd I kept an eye on the diesel consumption because I was always curious to know the difference. The diesels ran between 11-12L/100km. They were driven pretty hard.
Now, I had a company fuel card, so consumption wasn’t an issue. But looking at the price of petrol vs diesel, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy the petrol. It was the best truck I’ve ever had in my life. Utterly reliable, powerful, smooth, effortless. Loved it.
