The ring is known as a bezel, really need the right tooling to do the job. Parrots in Chch are the experts https://www.eparrott.co.nz/
It’s super easy to pull apart and change out the glass
A big fast bullet beats a little fast bullet every time
The bezel is usually light gauge aluminium and easy to displace. Pick away at the crimped skirt (underside) of the bezel with a fine bladed screwdriver or a kitchen knife and twist out from the speedo body to loosen it. You probably won't have to go all the way around, only half or so and then it can be lifted slightly and slid off. There will prolly be a thin o-ring between the glass and the body. When you've replaced the glass with something clear-ish, press the bezel back on and push the skirt back down against the body with a flat tool.
10MRT shooters do it 60 times, in two directions and at two speeds.
Try wish? Aliexpress. The bike wreckers for a 2nd hand one? Or get a gps boat speedo......

Yeh I see what you meen @Gibo, I have the same unit in my workshop in good order but to get past that outer ring is going to be a bitch.
If it was me I would just make a cut with the angle grinder fitted with the finest cutting wheel and just pop that outer ring off with screw driver easy as.
Get the glass cutter to cut circle glass to size,, replace then refit outer ring and wrap up with insulation tape.
Not perfect I know, but tidy enough and sealed from the elements, and better than throwing away.
I dont need the speedo, it does have an hour metre. I just thought why not keep it original.....will talk to my screwdriver later, it cant get any worserer
There's probably a zillion outfits up and down New Zealand but I have had excellent service from Cebelio in Christchurch.
They cut replacement meter board windows to drawing for me.

The small size of the order didn't seem to worry them.
