It's the glue sticky stuff from under a bonnet protector strip
Mine went brown and cracked
Bit of heat and peeled it off (in a million pieces)

Test a bit on ya paint first! Was gonna say heatgun and peel it off but you still need to remove the residue glue
depends on the paint, if its a lacquer then be careful and try a little acetone on somewhere obscure to test it, if its a 2 pot paint its basically epoxy resin and a little bit tougher solvent wise. but allot of new vehicles are painted in a water based paint then sealed with a solvent based clear coat and while the clear is tough whats underneath is a little more fragile
Try that citrus based stuff, De Solvit.
Safe on paint, and seems to get stuff off.
Lots of prepsol, keep wetting it. Bit of heat from the missus' hairdryer, and a plastic scraper

Back it up boyz, I am a sign writer and put this stuff on for a living ( finally I get to talk about something on this forum I am fucken expert at ) Mate once the stone guard / bonnet protector / paint protection film has been removed use good old fashioned turbs you buy at a garage, ( yes prepsol will also work but this is my moment of glory) get it very wet and quietly work away at it with a soft rag. The turbs won't affect the paint ( to harder rubbing can dull it ) you will see the glue become soft and go like chewing gum, keep rotating the cloth and you will get it all off........ BOOM

I used an eraser wheel (also called a caramel wheel) to remove mine - worked a treat! I tried hot air gun and solvents first, but that was a sticky mess.
Seem to have cut a plastic protective layer on the headlights of the landcruiser and now it's peeling up and heaps of dirt and crap under it. Passed it's warrant but can see it being a problem shortly any one got ideas?
