Replacing the Hilux what to get ?

My lease is up shortly & I'm going to replace my Hilux.

Not sure what to get, maybe another Hilux, the new ones are a bit better than my one.

What else should I look at, & don't bother saying Ford, I'm a Holden man

Maybe the big 550 Renault powered Nissan ?

Was looking at petrol, but the numbers just don't stack up now with the extension of the servicing intervals etc, esp with Toyotas "free" 5 year servicing .....

    Any constructive recommendations ?

I am NOT knowledgable on the subject, but a mate who I had pegged as dyed in the wool Toymota, given that he has had lots of Hiluxs in the past and currently runs one for his wife plus two Hiace vans for business, has just done his homework and then went out and bought a Nissan Pathfinder.
This guy doesnt do anything by halves, so there must be very good reasons, and it is not all about the $$ with him either.

Wait for the new Hilux and Navara to come out. Getting into a new Hilux now will see it as a old model very soon, obviously hurting resale when it's time for a new one. I suspect both the new Hilux and Navara will be a bit of a step ahead of the Ranger which seems to be the benchmark at the moment. Sounds like the new utes will be V6's as well which will be nice.

The new one was supposed to be here now but won't be until next year, don't want to buy the one I have & keep it until then....

I will need another in three years time so the new one might be sorted by then if it ever gets here

Barefoot has a twin cab VW Amarok that I have travelled in a bit lately and it is a bloody nice truck. I am sure he would be happy to share his opinion if you asked

Ford are doing VERY sharp deals on the Ranger as there will be no more 3.2's due to the new euro emmission shit. There is a reason they have out sold Hilux for the 3rd month in a row.
Toyota are going to a 2.7 as well. So no more 3.0 from Toyota. Field day deals are starting to emerge, but wait for the real fighting soon.

This Aussie article is a very good read comparing the majority of utes that are available here as well.....

It should be a right to own a 3.2 litre ute! But I see it's a privilege
