no experience with BF Goodrich but I can tell you the Coopers are bloody brilliant
I "spoke" with Mad Maori and he recommended the Cooper as well.
Coopers
How come they are the only choice? Lots of better options about
Haven't changed over my road tyre's yet. Those 18 inch rim mud tyre's are rather pricey :(
@longrange308
Such as ? have had a great run out of Coopers, good value for money and good grip and wear. I'm not saying there isn't better but if there is I'd be keen to know as the Scudo Wagon will need new rubber soon ish
Iv seen duck bums looser than you, the size on op machine you won’t get any change from 500 a tyre
Shit they Have a gay warranty that won’t cover shit,15 mm tread shit who doesn’t
You stuff one and oh you did this or didn’t do this
You can buy 8 other brands for the price of 4 of your “great” tyres
Just my 2c
@longrange308 what 8 brands are better then ? or do you just hate coopers and my shallow pockets ? :D
Well when I had to replace 2 of the BFG MT's on my truck the cost of 4 new "any other brand" tyres was a lot more than just buying 2 more BFG MT's.
I havent had any coopers but I rate bfg highly....spendy tho.
I fot rhe maxxis 988? Maybe its there open tread at
Been supprised so far from them off road and they great on road.
Sure left some tracks through brads paddocks and dug down in the slushy shit and got through making 20cm ruts.

me too, had to buy a new pair for the rear of my truck after slicing one irreparably, just got new warrens last week with 25k kms on the rears and 95k kms on the front, still approx 4mm tread left on them, its my daily hack rather than a purist 4wd
I feel thats pretty good value for money from them ?
The biggest pain I have found with our Colorado is that it has bloody big mag rims and lowish profile tyres so the mags take a hammering when you parallel park it in snug in with the gutter. Well not me cause I don't drive it :( I expect that replacement tyres will be bloody expensive as well.
Another for coopers warranty to 80,000 with free spbalance and rotation.... Field days special
So change em to steel wheels like i didhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...290bc558a9.jpg

I’ll be surprised if I get 40k out of my coopers before they’re useless for off-road
Have coppers road tiers on my L200 at the moment very happy have done 20000miles sick like you know what and braking cornering has improved out of site. Also flue economy seems to be better.
Haven't tried there off road types but these in the snow of last February were pritty dame good for what they are.
whatever tyres you buy make sure they are a relatively new model and wont be discontinued soon. i fitted 4 brand new goodyears on a vehicle 6 months ago then about 3 weeks back the wife managed to rip out a sidewall on one . i couldnt get a replacement anywhere so had to change both front tyres to keep them the same
Two points.
With regards to experience with tyres, I have never had Coopers. But I have had such an awesome run with a set of Kumho KL71 MT tyres that I would automatically have to put these at the top of any list I would consider.
As for the existing tyres, do what I did and get a second set of (steel) rims forma wrecker that fit your truck, and fit the MUDs / Offroads to these. It is not hard to swap a set over and it is very handy to have a complete spare set when you need them. Then if I am doing a long road trip or towing I get the road set on, and if spending heading off road or expecting to see slush I flick over to the Muds.

Ok I'm about to get and her for suggesting "budget" tires but I have had a fair few as had the old man. I have had 2 sets of Good ride Mud Legend Tyres. Both have last in excess of 60,000kms. They don't get slippy in the wet as they wear like a bunch of Muds do. They are relatively quiet. They are also and almost pisstake in they are a blatant copy of BF Goodrich KM2s. The old man brought Cooper STT pros and they wore out in under 30,000kms needless to say he lost his shot and went and brought Goodrides in the standard "maxxis" type tread. These wore at a similar rate but we're much cheaper. They did however get slippy as they wore. He then got a set of the mud legends they same as mine and has done near on 50,000Kms with around 6mm tread left that is still actually able to grip the ground unlike some other brands. I have driven Hankook RT03s but they didn't have great grip off-road and were on the noisey side however they wore great. Have had the Bridgestone Muds they were worse than the Goodrides SL366 and not cheap. So now I run my second set of 285/75R16 Goodride Mud Legends SL386 (this model is very important) on my 09 Lux. My brother runs these on his 018 Lux. My old man runs these on his 70 Series Cruiser and the 265/75R16 version on his 2014 Lux. I can highly recommend them. Another perk is that for the price you can almost buy a set of new rims in 16 inch diameter and this will mean even if you don't like them you will be able to buy cheaper tires.

Or if you want to keep the 18s. I would change though as more side wall is better typically.

Has anyone had a good run out of maxxis? 764 bighorns to be exact
They did but it was only on the mud tyres and im not a huge fan of those.
BFG is a better M/T tyre then the Cooper BUT i believe the new Cooper is better than the BFG in a A/T.
There is so many tyres out there on the market and im not a expert and don't claim to know it all about all of them but the ones i suggest are the ones that i see doing the business....i love being a independent tyre dealer rather than working for one of the corporate stores where you can only sell what they manufacture.
