Road user charges
I have an old bighorn that is used almost exclusively for going bush, river beds etc. I have a work ute, so the bighorn is just the mission mobile.
I am getting tired of putting road users on it when I am not using the roads most the time.
Is there any LEGAL way around this without being a business or farm etc?
I do not want to go the odo switch route as legal concern and also wanting to keep the odo accurate to keep track of service schedules and the like.
Cheers

You can run a logbook of off road running kms, and claim back from the NZTA the kms run off road. Trouble is, they only give you a credit on future RUC's, not any money back. Its still a better option than pissing $$ up against the wall.

You could pay for one of the GPS subscrition services but might end up paying more for that than you would use in RUC anyway if youre not doing heaps and heaps of offroad miles

go for the refund based scenario. fit a gps with recording facility for evidence
