    Show us your Landy...

Pop had a Series 2 1958 SWB with a canvas roof that always seemed to have a dead battery and required cranking to start...

Many good memories learning to drive on the farm in that one...

Would love to own one eventually...

    Show us yours.

We had a 57 soft top - think SII
We all learnt to drive in that then Dad bought the 1st model SIII I think with the lights out on the guards - brand spanking new one in blue
I got my licence week after turning 15 in it
I was so small I looked through the steering wheel to drive
Copper in TeKuiti couldn't fault me though - and passed no problem, must of had the cushion that day ??

They probably wrote it while they were waiting for help.

Bought by Landie owners for something to read while waiting for help.

They really were a shockingly bad vehicle. Brother used to point out that there were so many, that were so old, that only had low mileage. That just says they couldn't, or wouldn't, keep them running enough to get the mileage up.
There are only three types of people in this world. Those that can count, and those that can't!

Bloody awful things! We got a brand new swb IIA when I worked on a rabbit board in the mid 60's. It was gutless when new and noticeably worse by the time it was 3 months old. It did always get to where it was pointed but bloody slowly! I have been running Toyota Hilux diesels for the past 20 years. My current 94 Surf 3 litre turbo manual has been going strong for me for the last 14 years and I have no plans to replace it anytime soon! There are some steep and rugged hills round here and it always gets me there in comfort.
