    Sleeping in your hunting vehicle

I'm toying up the possibility of getting another hunting/fishing vehicle, however I would like one that I can lie down and sleep in which obviously narrows down my options.

Rooftop tents or tents/flys in general are not options I am interested in, as I want to keep accessories and gear needed to get away as minimalistic as possible.

I am a runt at 170 cm/5 foot 7, so potentially for a change my stature might benefit me in my search.

What vehicles do members on here use for sleeping in while outdoors?

Has to be 4wd or possibly Awd provided it has adequate ground clearance or can be lifted.

I did have a double cab 2002 Hilux with canopy in the past but the tub/tray was still to short so i would get wet legs/sleeping bag when it rained and also savaged by mosquitos/sandflies hence wanting to be enclosed inside the vehicle.

    Cheers.

An older model 96-01 Prado would be a good fit and i reckon you would easily fit in the back.

1995 Terrano with 4" thick full sized single foam mattress in the back.rear seats folded up or for even more room remove the base piece so mattress flat right to back of front seats.the sunroof let's farts out n fresh air in or just leave windows open a crack. I sleep better than do at home even with dog or two hogging the bed. I keep cloths on front seat n cooking stuff on floor at front.

Any stationwagon, SUV, or extra/cab will do it but at 170cm you will find that you could fit diagallony across a wellside canopy double cab at a pinch.

Toyota Surf, if you can find one not bastardised or Prado as mentioned. Lay the back seat down flat & you can sleep diagonally in these. Long wheelbase GQ or GU Safari/Patrol good to go as well if you want some class

I set up a sleeping platform in the cab of my old dual cab Hilux. It can be done, but if you're taller than 180cm I wouldn't bother.
With the rear seat removed, I built a foldable contraption that sat in the back on the passenger side. When the front passenger seat was fully reclined, it folded out to span the distance from the dashboard to the rear of the cab (above the reclined front passenger seat).
It worked well enough for me so if you're closer to 170cm then it would be even better.
I actually still have this platform sitting in my shed if anyone has a N70 dual cab Hilux and is interested.

I'm 6,3, sleep in my the hilux sr5 double cab from time to time. Drop the tail gate, and tie a tarp off the back t bar of the roof rack. Drop the window down. Takes a bit of finessing but it's proven a a good option for me and my boy. Dog sleeps under the tailgate in her crate or bed. Sorted!!

One life hack I discovered recently is that if you’re sleeping in a car passenger seat, stacking up the foot well so that it’s level with the seat makes a huge difference.
Granted it’s still not as comfortable as a proper bed, but it’s far better than wet feet and mosquitoes.

I sleep in my 2009 Nissan Pathfinder. I'm 182cm and can lie down without touching the ends - just. The seats fold completely flat down into the floor. I think the Pathfinders turned to rubbish after around 2010.
