Had a letter informing me my vehicle was photographed doing 55 kph in a 50 kph.
I advised the sender I was not present and did not know who was driving and requested the camera evidence to identify the driver.
Received the camera evidence I could not even see any individual in the vehicle at all despite the photo being taken from front in the dark.
I advised I could not state for sure who was driving and I refused to lie and pay $30.00 and have this infringement recorded against me.
I did ascertain my partner and her daughter were possibly in this area at the time of the infringement coming from Dunedin to the Christchurch area but because they shared the driving and were unfamiliar with the road and surroundings and were not aware of any speed cameras until weeks later I could not state who was driving at the time of the infringement.
I requested a police officer attend my home to investigate this infringement to no avail.
I eventually completed the declaration when I was next in town advising the names of who allegedly were possibly driving at that time which seemed problematic in the police office as I stated two names.
I received a reminder to pay the infringement so I contacted the sender who advised I should ignore the reminder as they will hold the first of the two people I mentioned on the declaration responsible.
I asked how she knew this one of the two people was responsible, no real response I asked should this person also lie to facilitate paying you $30.00.
I then asked who managed her department she refused to say or to provide guidance where an individual may work away from home and his vehicles are legally available to friends and family other than apparently I should have a log to be filled in by every user of my personal vehicles I suggested she provide evidence and identify the driver a photo would help.
I again asked her how I can protect myself from such infringement's and an individual not filling out a log to legally use my vehicle when she cant identify the driver.
Phone call was terminated to difficult I imagine.
Anyone else having these difficulty's, are these speed cameras fit for purpose.
