    It could be a solder joint in the dash cluster that needs to be resoldered, or it could be the first sign that the ECU is about to smoke itself. The RPM signal goes from the injection pump to the ECU then to the gauge.
    The 130 Surf's are known for ECU problems, especially if they have got damp.

    Just checked price of replacement ecu, no where near as expensive as expected, forgot it was a surf and not the wife's 350z...
