    Suzuki G16A loosing grunt

Ive got a '94 1600 16v auto suzuki, fuckin thing in the last couple of weeks as been getting more sluggish by the day. Its worst when cold and trying to accelerate its just got nothing there, I kept thinking it was the aircon but thats turned off. had a look under the bonnet tonight its got a very slight rattle at idle and you could say that the pully on the crank is not running true, it has a slight wobble maybe like 1mm.

Not long had a service, ATF is up to level and still red.

Any idea would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

They have a double skinned exhaust front pipe that collapses internally blocking the exhaust. Makes it feel strangled when driving.
When too much pressure the manifold cracks.
Remove, throw away and fit extractors.

There has also been a few that have had the front pulley slog out.
Any chance you have had the timing belt replaced recently or in recent past?

Good chance it's the exhaust manifold as Cambo says.

Ive had her 12 months now, she had a new head and timing belt then and I put the extractors on not long after I got it, she performs fine over the rest of the range as far as I can tell its just taking off from a standing start

Could be a large number of things. Sounds like you've had the worst bits changed already.
Maybe a faulting sensor? Or throttle body needing cleaned out?
Need to be checked if any DTC's in system, some faults not necessarily bring on check light.

Check basics, Spark plugs, HT leads, air filter, compression, timing etc. then go from there.

The front pulley flogged the keyway out of the crank on mine, made it real slow to get moving.
Once she was going, it was great.

How did you go about fixing that? does the crank need to come out for machining?

Not an easy fix for that.
To do it properly it means replacing crank, or removing it and getting it welded/filled and machined back to size.
Or the cheap dodgy way, is use metal bond type filler, put it together, and sell it straight away.

I did the dodgy cheap thing, filled it with the best metal quickset putty stuff I could find, and filed it to suit.
Worked well for about 6 weeks of hard thrashing, then started to slip back to what it was doing.

Thought about welding - but the crank itself is heat treated, welds might not stick properly?
