Got a little side tracked. Have decided to go with a honda crf230f and have just started looking around for a late model 16-17 low km bike. Not that easy to find a good one or also considering now going new. Buying new i will get a two year warranty and will run a hour meter to keep a track on engine hours.
@BRADS what extra's do you get fitted when buying new, just in the process of getting new prices. Looking at rear carrier, stand plate and hand gaurds
How much money will i loose buying new when i walk out of the shop??

The only thing I got fitted where wrap around handgaurds, and I welded a big washer onto the side stand.
The crf is bit like the hilux of the bike world and they really hold there value, but like all new purchases you'll loose a bit.
In the last year getting used most days all I've done is change the oil every 2 months.

Crf230 is a nice bike they fixed a few minor issues that the xr200 and other small honda singles had, moved the pulse generator off the cam to the crank, put bearings on the end of the camshaft, replaced the manual camchain tensioner with an auto and added estart, but they left the rear drum brake, they are 8K new just seems so much for what they are. I would look for a tidy 2nd hand one that someone else has weathered the depreciation on. Parts for Honda singles are cheap from either ebay or econohonda here in NZ, i'd even look at a ruffy and go through the motor.

Right now you can get a rmx450 for 10K brand new https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/mot...1686549422.htm seems like more than 20% more value on an 8K crf230

@imaca I did have a look at those bike's but couldn't see the value in them. I recon they are over priced for what they are. Also on cant see them been that great on hill country or boggy conditions.
