    Question Transmission/ Gearbox Specialist Christchurch

I’m overseas for work at the moment, usual story as soon as you get get out of the country shit happens at home!

The wife’s Toyota Rav auto transmission is playing up, apparently it’s missing a gear on up changes & revs it’s guts out until it grabs the next one, also it’s clunks when reverse is selected, doesn’t sound good & she has parked it up until I get home, anyway can anyone recommend a good place to take it too in Christchurch?

Sounds like the small vacuum assist hose has come off or is perished. Would explain the slow transition thru the gears.

I have just had a gearbox rebuild by this company https://www.autotransmissions.co.nz/contact They speacialise in gearboxes. I was looking to get my gearbox fixed and tried three or four different mechanics in Chch that I knew and all three said they dont do gearboxes, they take them to these guys.

I now have a very small leak from the repair, but he insists that it is covered under warranty, and he will fix the leak as soon as he can find it. Very good to deal with and I would happily use their services again, though I would rather that my gearbox does not need their services for quite some time yet....

Had the landcruiser serviced by auto transmissions last year (year before maybe....)

Happy with the work done and think it was around $700 with both diff oils changed as well.

    Rav's don't have vacuum assist.

Sounds like an internal issue. If its had the oil changed in the past, as a possibility the incorrect oil was used then??? There are a few different types and some aren't compatible with the type of trans'

    What year Rav @outdoorlad?
