What roof racks are we using?

Looking for a set to put in a 2018 Hilux.
Ideally a 3 bar set for one to go on the canopy also.
Was thinking for a permanent set not the hook on the door version but open to suggestions.
Not looking to put a ton on the roof.
Google reveals a plethera of options so thought I would pick the brains of the gurus on here
    cheers

Fuel is the cheapest part of the operation! The small difference it makes vs the options it holds are amazing.
We put 4 full size mountain bikes on the roof when towing the boat or rally truck.
Do you also not use your ac? Don't use at tyres ? Or tow anything ?

To the op I have some new Thule roof racks that will fit your hilux I'd sell for half price pm if your interested

Took the words right out of my mouth. Can’t go wrong with Thule, have a set on my wife’s car to carry the xl roof box.

It depends, some vehicles it's less than 6% increase for some of the rack products but other vehicles with high load type racks it can be as much as 25% increase in fuel burn. AC is usually cheaper than driving with the window down too... Another example is a family down the road a bit actually dropped the roof racks when they were carting a handful of mountain bikes and went to a trailer for them. Apparently paid for the trailer in the first year with the fuel savings? Basically bolted the racks onto the trailer, Mum really appreciated that part of the change as less lifting onto the roof of the SUV.

But as far as versatility roof racks can be really useful, especially if you have the odd need to cart long loads. My experience of them is the Thule products are well thought out and do the job, but you pay for that.

I've used Rhino Rack on two vehicles now, plenty of add ons can be had too. Good Aussie designed gear.

If anyone in the Tauranga area wants a good solid commercial rack (one bar only) I have one here from muy old Falcon panel van days. These are a gutter grip style.
Ive used whisper bars on a ute they were very good. Gone to a Thule as they were the only ones I could get 2nd hand in good condition for my latest vehicle.
