It very much depends what you are looking for - the Orix ones are all ex-lease which simply means minimum servicing and any necessary repairs and they've been driven like they were stolen by a lot of people that wouldn't treat them like that if they were a personal vehicle.
They also know what they have and have made their money off the vehicles from the lease and finance arrangements and are recouping the final residual off the asset at sale time, which is why they don't discount and the price is a little lower than other non-commercial dealers.
My advice is open eyes on all the usual selling sources, auctions including Trademe and the smaller sources (that often list on Trademe anyway) and things like local traders and Facebook Marketplace.
With everything second hand, get it plugged in and checked - knowing that everything diesel common rail is now expected to need a set of injectors at 120-150,000Kms and also budget on a full service throughout including all fluids, brakes, filters and a very good check of the telemetry data via the OBDII port. Also, research the vehicle and talk to the mechanic about things like timing chains, some of the Navara's were bad for these crapping themselves for example. Further down the line, I would plan on DPF and EGR/EGR cooler delete mods and a retune to make it run right, but wouldn't recommend anything like a power upgrade on an older engine.
Other advice is make a list up of what he wants it to do, as if you buy a ute with a hard lid and find it sucks balls as everything you try to put in the tray is taller and need to go to a canopy that will likely cost you 1-1.5 grand to source and fit. Or, if you want to cart mountain bikes etc or a dog box then a flat deck might be the better option, also a very easy way to get better departure clearance at the back end.
